2022 Glass Talks East and West - International Contemporary Glass Art Forum and Exhibition successfully opened in Beijing



Approved by the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, 2022 is designated as the United Nations International Year of Glass, and it is also the first year that the United Nations names a single material. On November 5, 2022, the "2022 'Glass Language East and West' - International Contemporary Glass Art" will be held jointly by the China Ceramic Society, the China Arts and Crafts Society, the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, and the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Forum and Exhibition" kicked off in Beijing China Science and Technology Hall and China Millennium Monument Art Museum.



Glass is a product that appeared in the process of human understanding and transformation of nature, and is one of the oldest man-made materials. For more than 5,000 years, glass, as a special material, has touched people emotionally with its transparent material properties and subtle light and shadow interactions. It also carries the spiritual characteristics of various nations and regions, embodying the It has rich historical and cultural connotations. "2022 'Glass Talks East and West' - International Contemporary Glass Art Forum" will be held in the China Science and Technology Hall, with the theme of "Glass and Human Civilization", reviewing the history of ancient glass materials and craftsmanship, and studying the manifestations of glass in different eras It explores the past, present and future of glass and civilization by exploring the cultural characteristics, aesthetic concepts and ways of thinking of the times.

"2022 Glass Language East and West - International Contemporary Glass Art Exhibition" opened in the afternoon of November 5, 2022 at the China Millennium Monument Art Museum.



General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that "civilizations are colorful because of exchanges, and civilizations are enriched by mutual learning." This exhibition exhibited more than 100 contemporary glass art works at home and abroad, which is the exchange and collision of Eastern and Western glass art. This not only has the distinction between the Chu River and the Han Dynasty, but also has the harmony of the East and West, which fits the theme of this exhibition "East and West in Glass".
